STRIVE TOPS (Transition Outcomes Program for Students) is especially designed for students who are in their 13th and 14th year of school. In collaboration with area school districts, this innovative program supports students to generalize learned skills to new settings as well as acquire additional independent living skills, provide opportunities to increase independence in the community, prepare students to transition to adult services, and offer experiences that promote social skills with students from other districts.
Meeting the Maine Department of Education’s standards as a contracted service provider, TOPS offers part-time and full-time program options Monday through Friday as well as Extended School Year services for students from area districts.

Emerge is an extended school year experience during summer break for students who are entering 8th grade through their high school years. The program supports the maintenance of skills in executive functioning and social skill instruction while offering opportunities to transfer skills to other settings through the natural experiences within the community. Emerge utilizes research-based elements that emphasize a direct and structured approach to instruction that would identify critical social skills and then teach them through modeling, role-playing and feedback. Access to Emerge is through a student’s IEP process. The program is based out of our STRIVE Center in South Portland.
