STRIVE U Employment Coordinator ***$500 sign-on bonus!***

Job Description:

STRIVE U provides post-secondary education and training to young adults with intellectual disabilities in the realms of residential, employment, and community skills with the goal of enabling its graduates to live and work as full community members with maximum independence, productivity, and dignity.

We are looking for a dynamic individual who is committed to providing students with an inclusive post-secondary academic experience that includes paid work experiences. This is a full-time opportunity. $500 Sign-on Bonus + $250 in addition if successful candidate is certified as a Direct Support Profession in Maine (DSP)


  • Work with business community to develop new job placements for STRIVE U students.
  • Cultivate businesses to raise awareness and interest in STRIVE U.
  • Attend local networking events to promote Employment Program and STRIVE U.
  • Serve as ongoing contact for businesses.
  • Provide any necessary job coaching for students as needed.
  • Place all STRIVE U students in temporary paid employment
  • Meet with businesses and get commitments to hire STRIVE U students.
  • Network to schedule meetings with business leaders/managers.
  • Arrange tours of STRIVE U for interested businesses.
  • Provide PR and recognition to partners in employment program.
  • Respond to any/all employer needs/concerns/issues.
  • Provide updates on student’s job searches to their team for quarterly meetings.
  • Provide education on employment and hiring process to STRIVE U students.
  • Attend/assist at STRIVE U events such as Family & Friends Weekends & Graduation
  • Work in collaboration with Southern Maine Community College to support students to utilize the career services available through the university



  • Minimum of two years of college
  • Experience with direct instruction in independent living skills and/or employment support, monitoring and documenting student progress preferred but not required
  • 1-2 years marketing, PR, networking experience preferred but not required
  • Strong interpersonal and decision making skills
  • High attention to detail
