2010 Wellness Class Schedule

January 4-March 15: Nutrition
April 5-June 7: Germbusters
June 28-September 13: Intro to Sports
October 4-December 13: Personal Safety
                             

Registration is open for our upcoming Monday Night Wellness Class: NUTRITION! Join us Monday nights as we learn about how to make good food choices and keep our bodies strong and healthy.  This class will be highly interactive and tons of fun!

Monday Night Wellness Series Presents...
NUTRITION!
Monday Nights: 5:30-7:00
January 4th-March 15th

Jan 4-Feb 22: Eat Well Nutrition Education Program
Students will participate in an 8-week nutrition course led by representatives from UMCE.  Throughout the "Eat Well Nutrition Education Program," students learn:

  • How to stretch food dollars
  • New ideas and recipes for healthy meals
  • How to prepare great snacks
  • Meal planning for busy people
  • Cooking skills
  • How to make favorite recipes healthier
  • How to keep food safe
  • Tips for a healthy lifestyle

March 1: Supersize Me
Students will watch the documentary "Supersize Me" and participate in a class discussion on fast food and overeating.

March 8: Meal Makeover: Mac n' Cheese
Students will prepare a healthy Southwestern version of the standard Mac n' Cheese.                        
March 15: Dessert Makeover: Cake!
Students will prepare an Applesauce Cake and celebrate their last day of class. 

CLASS REGISTRATION

Prior to each class series every student and guardian will fill out a registration form which will include a syllabus and emergency contact information forms which are to be returned before the student starts the series. Series are generally limited to 15 students and the course fee is $20.

Each student should come to class prepared with assigned materials and be ready to engage in class discussions.
